Salou. Costa Dorada. 01 September 2015. Salou September begins with the feast of King James this year celebrates its twentieth edition of the festival and that leads to the capital of the Costa Dorada several new features intended to encourage participation of the people and to project the party the territory. Under this premise a medieval show explicitly created for King James lafiesta be released, "Hostal de Bernat" from the hand of the company Quico Celio, Noi i Mut of Ferreries, National Culture Award 2015, which will be displayed in the courtyard of the Torre Vella in various functions afternoon and evening of Friday 4 to Sunday 6 September. Tickets for the show are priced at 10 euros and can be purchased at the Department of Culture, Tourism and the box office before the show.
In the same spirit, the nights of 4 and 5 September will be projected on the facade of the Torre Vella a spectacular mapping created for the occasion "Conquering History". It is a format never performed in Salou that tell the story of King James I and his link with the municipality. This festival is jointly organized by the Department of Culture and Festivals and Economic Development, Trade, and Consumer Markets with will energize the city and create events to help raise the visibility of the town's history and culture and provide content the festive season.
As a novelty, too, and with the intention to involve citizens in the festival this year will be decorated and drive a new shopping center, Via Roma. This area will be dressed in medieval banners and the presence of a military camp of the time with scheduled activities. The medieval market was born with the will to revitalize the party of King James. You can find artisans selling products that offer many different items such as amulets, antiques and brass, jewelry, woodwork, witches, pottery, lamps and goblins, slippers, glass, soaps and lotions, leather belts, board games , mirrors, perfumes, minerals, salts and oils, oil paintings, wineskins, juggling, etc. Visitors may purchase food products: candies, preserves and handmade pastries, pancakes, sausages, cheeses, herbs and chocolate.
There will be craft workshops (blacksmith, saddler, glass blowing, shields and swords, the goldsmith, the Arab calligrapher or bread oven), games and children's workshops, caravan of donkeys, musicians on period instruments and representations theater.
Medieval culinary trail
Besides all these activities, the festival will feature the regular programming, as the medieval gourmet menus. In these medieval gastronomic routes more than 20 restaurants, most of them in the old town, which have designed special menus with recipes from the book of medieval cuisine Sent Sovi involved. This year, as well as incorporating new municipal market on the route since medieval recipes distribute kitchen and make wine tastings, tasting vermouth and activities for children. Out of King James I and his entourage Saturday, september 5 The troops are mobilizing the crown, the king gave the order. Finally Salou is the place where King James I gather his troops to march towards Mallorca.
From all corners of the kingdom divides people on the coast next to the monarch salouenca: nobles, peasants, knights, priests, soldiers ... and of course, King James at the helm, accompanied by his wife Yolanda of Hungary and its retinue of guards, reporters and officials.
Expected from 19: 30h streets of Salou live the arrival of the troops and the followers of the King, who will enter the old Roman road, the Via Roma to join the royal company. When the sun begins to fall, at about 20pm from the tower all the procession will start, with the King at the front. The cortege will fall by Barcelona street from the beach on the eastern mark the starting point to set sail for Mallorca. While waiting on the kingdom, history awaits.
