Holidays with pets: Salou Pet-Friendly destination

Salou. Costa Dorada. 23 March 2023. The Salou Tourist Board and the Salou City Council have taken a further step to deseasonalize the tourist season and diversify the municipality's tourist offer with a commitment to make it easier for families to vacation with their pets in Salou, or what is the same: convert Salou in a Pet-Friendly destination.

The project, in the initial phase, will work especially on dissemination to increase the offer of establishments and services that join the initiative. At the moment, the Tourist Board has published a brochure containing the main services and spaces for pets.

Play areas for dogs in Salou:

• Emprius Park (Joan Fuster avenue in Salou), with games, a fountain and ample space to run.

• Manel Albinyana Park (Calle del Arquitecte Ubach), is an urban area with play elements for dogs.

Going to the beach with dogs in Salou:

In Salou you can take dogs to the beach from the first Sunday in November until the Thursday before Easter. Thus, from Easter to the end of October you cannot go with dogs to the Salou beach.

There is a refreshing space with water for dogs (on Passeig Jaume I, in front of the Ornamental Fountains) in summer.

Tourist train:

It allows the access of pets, tied up or with a carrier, and directly to the care and under the responsibility of the people who accompany them.

Those with the Salou Pet-Friendly badge are committed to the campaign and offer pets access to the premises, water and information.

Salou has different veterinary services, sales of accessories for pets and dog groomers.

Health and coexistence standards:

• Pet urine should be soaked with water

• You have to pick up the pet poop and throw it in the waste bins

• In the pipi can, dogs that show aggressive behavior must leave the space.

• Breeds classified as dangerous must wear a muzzle.

• It is forbidden to feed or water stray cats.
