Salou extends the certification of Sports Tourism to the modality of light sailing

Salou. Costa Dorada. 17 November 2016. Salou has extended the current certification of Sports Tourism in the modality of light sailing with the accreditation of the facilities of the Club Náutico in Salou, of municipal concession. Implicitly the city is recognized as a destination that offers high quality resources and services, suitable sports facilities, adapted accommodation and specialized services for both professional sportsmen and tourists who want to practice light sailing activities.

During the ceremony, the Mayor of the capital of the Costa Dorada, Pere Granados, explained that "we are already working on getting a new sports certification in cycling and, with the Involvement of the private sector, we are sure to reach the goal. " He also added that "we will continue working hard to get more certifications, lengthen the season and ensure that our visitors come to play sports and promote a healthy lifestyle."

Xavier Espasa, director of the Agència Catalana de Turisme, which is the organization in charge of accrediting these certifications, said that "sport and sporting events are elements that contribute to the deseasonalization of tourism, and in this sense Salou Is a benchmark".

The head of the Sailing section of the Nautical Club, Josep Oliva, recalled that "we have facilities adapted to the nautical sport practice of sailing dinghy but also in windsurfing, paddle surf or kayak" and that the Club "has a Racing team that participates in both national and international championships; As well as being able to organize - as has recently been done in Salou - Catalan championships Optimist or the Spanish championship in Radial Laser with the participation of 20 countries.

In addition to certification in light sailing, Salou already has the seal of Sports Tourism in football since 2013 and was a pioneer municipality in 2003 to obtain the Family Tourism.
